TSTT honored at the Excelencias 2023 Awards for its Innovative Contribution to Tourism and Society

Madrid, January 24, 2024 - During the celebration of FITUR 2024, the Excelencias Group has awarded the prestigious Excelencias 2023 Awards in its nineteenth edition. This year, the ceremony recognized 45 innovative projects from 19 countries, standing out for their contribution in the fields of tourism, gastronomy and culture in Ibero-America.
The selection process was rigorous, with nominations received by December 22, 2023 through a web form. An international jury, composed of experts in culture, gastronomy and tourism, analyzed more than 2,000 proposals submitted by institutions, companies and personalities from 25 countries.
In an innovative twist, this year a popular vote was introduced among the finalist projects. This initiative, which allowed the public to participate in choosing the winners, was a resounding success, receiving more than 31,000 votes in just five days.
Excelencias Group Chairman Jose Carlos de Santiago presided over the awards ceremony. In his speech, he underscored the importance of being fair and even-handed in selecting the winners. De Santiago underscored that the Excelencias Awards serve as a platform for those with less economic capacity or visibility, providing a unique opportunity to present their projects. He made special mention to Mexico, a country that presented a significant number of projects.
One of the highlights of the ceremony was the awarding of the prize to TOURISM & SOCIETY THINK TANK (TSTT) for its outstanding role as a space for reflection, consulting and advice on tourism and social issues. The award was received by its president, Mr. Antonio Santos del Valle. The award was celebrated by both the attendees and members of the TSTT, who highlighted the recognition of the group's global work, with collaborators in cities like Lisbon, Madrid, Miami, Mexico, Argentina and soon in Germany.
With these awards, the Excelencias Group continues its 27-year-long work promoting excellence and innovation in Ibero-America, reflecting its ongoing commitment to the development and recognition of outstanding initiatives in the fields of tourism, gastronomy and culture.
