These are the new Tren Maya ticket prices

01-01-24

It's been a little over a week since the Tren Maya began its inaugural passenger route, and as it begins to take hold, more specialized pricing announcements have been confirmed.

While the Campeche to Cancun trip has already published its general passenger fares, special ticket prices for students, teachers and wheelchair users have been announced to the public.

The Mayan Train is one of the most important works that Andrés Manual López Obrador (AMLO) has introduced under his administration, to better connect tourists and locals alike with the hidden majesty of the Mexican Caribbean and the Yucatan Peninsula.

Currently, the only route in service is from Campeche to Cancun, with general fares hovering around 1,166 pesos (US$68) in economy class and 862 pesos (US$50) in premier class.

Other prices have been announced for students, teachers, senior citizens and wheelchair users: from Campeche to Cancun, 620 pesos (US$36); from Cancun to Merida, 391 pesos (US$23); and from Merida to Campeche, 296 pesos (US$17).

Discounts have also been announced for the local population, who will be able to use the train to cross different states, making it truly more accessible to all.

Pending completion of the final phases of the Tren Maya, other ticket prices have not yet been announced, but these special fares for the aforementioned groups will continue to be included on the rest of the routes.

It is also important to note that these pricing structures could change in the near future, so it is certainly worth booking early to take advantage of these current fares before they increase with popular demand.
