The 44th edition of FITUR 2024, scheduled to be held at the IFEMA fairgrounds in Madrid, promises to be a historic event with the participation of 9,000 companies, 152 countries and 806 major exhibitors. The fair is expected to attract 250,000 people and generate a significant economic impact of 430 million euros in Madrid. The inauguration was attended by the King and Queen of Spain, Felipe VI and Queen Letizia.
FITUR 2024, to be held January 24-28, stands out for its growth in all aspects, especially in terms of international presence, with an increase in 20 countries over the previous year. This year, an estimated 150,000 professionals and 100,000 visitors from the general public are expected to attend, making a significant contribution to local economic sectors such as transportation, hospitality and commerce.
With three days dedicated to professionals and the weekend open to the general public, FITUR maintains its commercial and tourism focus. Among the new features of 2024, the participation of Ecuador as a 'FITUR Partner Country' stands out, a market that will be presented despite current internal challenges, including an "internal armed conflict".
FITUR 2024 has experienced notable growth compared to the previous year, including a 7% increase in exhibitors. This year, the fair reflects the latest forecasts of the World Tourism Organization, expecting to recover almost 90% of pre-pandemic levels in international tourism.
Sustainability is a central theme at FITUR 2024, addressed through its 10 specialized sections, including FITUR 4all, FITUR Sports, FITUR Techy, and more. These sections promote everything from accessible and sustainable tourism to technological innovation in the tourism industry.
Ecuador, as a partner country, will present its tourism offerings, highlighting its geographic and cultural diversity. During the weekend, the general public will be able to explore a variety of activities and experiences offered by exhibitors, such as a zip line installed by Puerto Rico and other cultural and gastronomic activities.
FITUR 2024, in addition to being a global tourism showcase, continues to advance in digitalization, offering streaming of its presentations and facilitating professional interaction through its digital platform FITUR Live Connect.
