China reached a total of 424 million people entering and leaving the country in 2023, a year-on-year increase of 266.5% over the previous year, when the 'zero covid' policy was still in force, according to data from the National Immigration Administration.

Thus, 206 million were residents of China, 183 million residents of Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, and 35.478 million foreigners.

In addition, throughout 2023 the Asian country issued 18.428 million ordinary passports, 86.09 million travel documents for travel to Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, and 1.705 million foreign visa documents.

From December 1, 2023, citizens from six countries, including Spain, can enter the Asian country without a visa for stays of a maximum of 15 days. This relaxation of travel requirements also affects France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Malaysia.
