Argentine Government appoints Yanina Martinez as new Undersecretary of Tourism
18-01-24
Dr. Yanina Martínez has been appointed as Undersecretary of Tourism of Argentina. This was announced in the Official Gazette of that country on January 15, 2024.
The young lawyer was the first woman to hold the position of Secretary of Tourism Promotion of the Nation of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports during the last government.
Yanina Martínez was born in the province of Catamarca. She graduated in Law at the Blas Plascal University of Córdoba and, as she has stated on several occasions, her main objective is to develop the tourism industry in a sustainable manner and with harmonious economic growth.
Yanina Martínez, until now the director of the Institute for the Promotion of Tourism in Argentina, will manage the tourism portfolio from now on. She will not do so as minister, since Tourism has been transformed into a Secretariat of Tourism, Environment and Sports, so Martínez will occupy the position of undersecretary.
In this new role, she will be in charge of defining and implementing policies, programs and projects related to this sector, advising on investments, monitoring and evaluating their impact, and even managing related local, regional and international collaborative projects.
Her strong interest in the promotion of sustainability and the visibility of women in projects of this nature makes her an important player in the commitment to inclusive, diverse and egalitarian management policies, as she has demonstrated in her previous responsibilities.
The new Secretary of Tourism will take office for the first time in a crucial week for the sector, since next week one of the world's largest tourism trade fairs, FITUR, will take place, an event that Argentina has not missed in recent years.
