The oneworld alliance celebrated 25 years of existence on 1 February

American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific and Qantas are its founding members and since 1999 it has recorded more than 9 billion flights to more than 900 destinations worldwide.
The alliance was created on 1 February 1999 with the aim of increasing connectivity and flexibility for passengers and rewarding frequent flyers with special benefits and privileges. Since then, oneworld® has grown to include 13 of the world's leading airlines in the alliance: Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Iberia, Japan Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Qantas, Qatar Airways, Royal Air Maroc, Royal Jordanian, SriLankan Airlines, 26 affiliate airlines and one oneworld® connect partner, Fiji Airways. Oman Air will join the alliance in 2024 and become its 14th full member. Every six seconds a flight of one of the member airlines lands or takes off, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
More than 330,000 professionals from the alliance's member airlines work tirelessly, both on the ground and in the air, delivering memorable travel experiences to customers across the alliance. To celebrate this special date, uniformed staff of oneworld® member airlines wore unique badges designed with the new 25th anniversary logo.
The alliance celebrates diversity, uniqueness and inclusiveness, while representing the cultural variety of the more than 170 territories in which its airlines operate. oneworld® carriers fly to more than 900 destinations around the world and offer customers unrivalled access to more than 600 airport lounges, additional baggage allowances, the ability to earn and redeem miles throughout their network and fast-track security access at selected airports.
Oneworld is the only global alliance that provides its customers with access to First Class lounges, regardless of the member airline they fly with. It also offers two types of round-the-world fares, and provides flexible options for travelers depending on the continents visited or the distance flown.
