Successful launch of the World Religious and Spiritual Tourism Destinations Network - Bolivia

Yesterday, Tuesday, August 13, 2024, the official launch of the World Religious and Spiritual Tourism Destinations Network was celebrated with great success in Bolivia. The event, led by Mr. Marco Antonio Mercado, National Coordinator of the WRSTDN in Bolivia, brought together more than a hundred representatives, professionals, collaborators, media and national coordinators of the Network in a virtual meeting through the Zoom platform.

The event was inaugurated by Mr. Mercado, who highlighted the importance of this project for the promotion of religious and spiritual tourism in Bolivia, as well as the country's potential to become a world reference in this type of tourism. "This launch marks the beginning of a new era for Bolivia, where our sacred destinations and spiritual experiences will be recognized and valued internationally," he said.

The event included the outstanding participation of Ms. Pilar Valdés, Director General of the WRSTDN, who highlighted the key objectives of the network, among which are the identification and promotion of sacred destinations, the promotion of spiritual experiences, and the sustainable development of local communities. Valdés also emphasized the importance of global collaboration to share knowledge and best practices among member destinations.

In addition, Ms. Norma Rojas, Vice Coordinator of the Network in Bolivia, and Mr. Antonio Santos del Valle, President of the Tourism and Society Think Tank (TSTT), provided their perspectives on how the WRSTDN can contribute to tourism development in Bolivia, while maintaining a focus on the preservation of the country's cultural and spiritual heritage.

During the event, presentations were made on religious and spiritual destinations and experiences in Bolivia, highlighting places of great importance such as the Copacabana Sanctuary, Lake Titicaca and sites of Andean indigenous culture, which are part of a unique spiritual legacy in the world.

The success of the launch not only lies in the high participation, but also in the great acceptance and interest shown by the participants, who expressed their commitment to collaborate for the growth of religious and spiritual tourism in Bolivia. This event has been a crucial step to position the country on the global map of spiritual tourism destinations and to promote a sustainable and respectful development of its cultural heritage.
