Jamaica is preparing to host the 42nd edition of the Caribbean Travel Marketplace, organized by the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA). The event will be held at the Montego Bay Convention Center from May 20-23, 2024 and promises to be more dynamic and interesting than ever with new additions and three tracks dedicated to various aspects of tourism.

The conference, which expects to attract more than 150 buying companies and 1,000 delegates, has expanded its global reach this year. "We have extended our invitations to buyers from Latin America, Eastern Europe and Asia for greater global integration," explained Nicola Madden-Greig, CHTA president, during a press conference at the Jamaica Tourist Board. She also highlighted the introduction of a full MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) itinerary that includes a first-ever Caribbean MICE exchange with the participation of 20 meeting planners.

This year's Caribbean Travel Marketplace is structured into three main components: the Business of Tourism, with the Caribbean Travel Forum scheduled for May 20; Tourism Marketing, with CHTA's premier exhibition May 21-22; and the Tourism Community, with the groundbreaking Responsible Tourism Day on May 23.

Responsible Tourism Day, a new addition to the event this year, will focus on promoting sustainable tourism with a special focus on benefiting Jamaica's local communities. This special day gives participants the opportunity to engage in activities that will not only benefit the local community, but also encourage sustainable tourism initiatives throughout the region.

The Caribbean Travel Marketplace continues to be a key platform for Caribbean tourism suppliers to meet face-to-face with international wholesalers, facilitating negotiations that will drive tourism growth and development in the region. With its focus on sustainability and international expansion, this year's event sets a precedent for future editions, focusing on positive impact both locally and globally.
