Croatia is in top form, having welcomed 16.2 million foreign tourists in the first eight months of this year.

These figures are not only an improvement on the same period last year (+8%), but are on par with 2019, when it broke all records, with 19.6 million for the year as a whole.

As detailed by the Croatian Tourist Board in a statement, 88.5 million overnight stays were recorded between January and August, an increase of 2% compared to 2022. In terms of destinations, the highest number of overnight stays was recorded in Rovinj, Dubrovnik, Poreč, Split and Umag.

From January to August 2023, Germany stood out as the main outbound market, with 18.8 million overnight stays. It is followed by the domestic market (10.6 million overnight stays), Slovenia (9 million), Austria (6.6 million) and Poland (5.7 million).

"Despite all the circumstances, Croatia has achieved an excellent result, which we will further strengthen in the near future, with more promotional activities planned," said Kristjan Staničić, director of the Croatian Tourism Agency.
