President of Colombia discards the name "Orange Economy" in favour of "Cultural and Creative Economy

The new name of the portfolio will be "de las Culturas, las Artes y los Saberes", among the measures will be to put an end to the Orange Economy
The government of President Gustavo Petro officially ended the "Orange Economy" of the Duque era and began the "Cultural and Creative Economy", with the passing of Law 2319 also changing the name of the Ministry of Culture led by Juan David Correa.
According to the sanction, the term "Orange Economy" was changed to "Cultural and Creative Economy", in accordance with the continuous reiterations made by international organisations and treaties".
The promulgation of the law also establishes the creation of the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Knowledge as the governing body for culture, "responsible for formulating, coordinating, executing and monitoring state policy in this area, in accordance with the development plans and programmes, according to the principles of participation contemplated in this law; the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Knowledge shall be responsible, in addition to the functions provided for in this law, for exercising the general powers that correspond to the ministries, in accordance with Decree 1050 of 1968".
As of its enactment, all laws and regulations referring to the Ministry of Culture "shall be read as the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Knowledge, and the minister defined in this position shall be called the Minister of Cultures, Arts and Knowledge".
With the passing of the law, the Petro government will not only put an end to one of the Duque era's flagship measures for the implementation of productivity and competitiveness measures for the productive apparatus that took hold during the pandemic, but will also seek a new approach in areas such as culture.
"Henceforth, all related regulations that refer to the term "National Council for the Orange Economy" will be understood as "National Council for the Cultural, Creative and Knowledge Economy", the law adds.
