Cruise lines cancel calls due to outbreak of war in Israel

25-10-23

As a result of the escalation of the war between the State of Israel and the jihadist group Hamas, cruise companies are having to work at full speed to eliminate their planned short-term calls in the Hebrew country and look for alternatives.

Companies such as TUI Cruises; Norwegian Cruise Line and Oceania Cruises (Norwegian Cruise Line Holding); Holland America (Carnival Corp.); and Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises (Royal Caribbean Group) had scheduled calls in the coming days in Haifa, in the northwest of the country, and Ashdod, south of Tel Aviv and very close to the Gaza Strip, Kreuzfahrt reports.

The main alternatives for rescheduling are Limassol (Cyprus), Alanya and Bodrum (Turkey), although additional days at sea are also being considered.

The shipping lines state that they are closely monitoring the situation and are taking this measure to ensure the safety of their customers, crews and the ships themselves.
