Despegar prepares to extend AI to the general public

Daniel Zelmann, Chief Product Officer of Despegar said that this tool is available in Argentina, and is preparing to offer it to the general public and the rest of the countries where it operates.
He also explained that this is a beta version that is already available on the site and App in Argentina for members of the Despegar Passport Global category. "It will soon be extended to the general public and the rest of the countries where the company operates. Customers will be able to put together the package that best suits their tastes and needs, while they will also receive recommendations for activities to do at their destination," he said.
With the use of AI, they intend to increase the value proposition for users, "which will allow, through Large Language Models, to have a richer and more flexible conversation with the customer, and achieve a complete and dynamic product offer".
Zelmann explained that through AI, travellers can obtain itineraries tailored to their interests, discover unique destinations and optimise the organisation of their next adventure. In line with our innovative spirit, we are excited to be pioneering and enabling to take the user experience to the next level by providing increasingly comprehensive and advised trips," he said.
Among other benefits, he pointed out that AI technologies enable improved operational efficiency, scalable personalised products and services, and more intuitive customer experiences. In the case of packages, this product uses a machine learning algorithm to identify combinations of airfares and hotels to create the best package.
