Tourism in Colombia is a factor that continues to strengthen, as the country's most visited cities include Medellin, Cartagena and Bogota, in addition to the coastal beaches.

According to Migration Colombia, from January to September 2023, 4'198,801 visits to the country have been registered, representing a growth of 29.3% compared to the 2022 period. These values also incorporate luxury tourism, a term that is rarely used, but which is a reality, there is a great offer of restaurants, hotels and plans; so much so, that this offer had an increase of 4% in the last year, according to figures from high-end hotels in Bogota.

"Luxury in Colombia has been a hidden gem that is gradually becoming more visible. Colombia and especially its capital are an excellent destination for high-profile foreigners, since in Bogota we have two of the 50 best restaurants in the world, one of the 100 best bars in the world and hotels of the highest level. In addition to a diverse cultural offer between museums and monuments that allow us to offer a unique experience," says José Otálora, director of the luxury tourism agency Green Trails.

The increase of foreign tourists' visits to the country, have highlighted that they admire the Colombian culture and gastronomy, this makes that the bad stigmas that have been had of Colombia for years are diminishing and it is characterized more by its food, its traditions, its parties, nature and beaches.

According to experts, it is expected that the end of the year season will have a large growth of visitors looking for luxury experiences, representing an increase of 20% compared to 2022, in addition, it is projected that this sector will have an even more representative growth by 2024.

Thanks to the union of luxury tourism agencies, Green Trails, the District Institute of Tourism, ProColombia and the highest level hotels in the capital, have defined that the goal for 2026 is to make Bogota the luxury capital of South America.
