The consultancy Alianza Kairo presented yesterday in Paris a study on the main tourist destinations for shopping tourism, taking into consideration aspects such as connectivity, supply, prices, added services, etc.

In summary, the following cities stand out:

New York

New York is a fashionista's dream. If you go during the sales season, great bargains await you in the great American metropolis. Remember that shops usually offer discounts on clothes to coincide with national holidays and special dates.

Fifth Avenue is the most important shopping street, and the place to go if you're looking for luxury shops and big-brand bargains. But if you're in the mood for good, cheap shopping, take note of this name: Woodbury Common, the most famous outlet and the best place to get your shopping fix. It's an hour from New York and you can find top brands at discounts of up to 65% off their usual price.

London

When it comes to shopping, the British capital is a classic. It has an endless number of places to spend on all kinds of items, from the most exclusive to second-hand bargains. Department stores, such as the popular Harrod's, tourist markets (Camden, Greenwich, Spitalfields) or shopping streets, such as Oxford Street, Carnaby or the legendary Regent Street with more than 100 establishments.

One of the places that most attracts tourists is Portobello Road, where every Saturday, the typical pastel-coloured shops are transformed into a market. Remember that you can bargain for real bargains.

Miami

The capital of Latin America, as some call it, is also the shopping capital for millions of people in America and Europe.

In addition to those looking for beaches with crystal-clear waters, nature in its purest form and the unique joy of this Florida city, Miami is the ideal place for shopping and fashion enthusiasts. Luxury shopping centres, exclusive boutiques and the best outlets... There is nothing like a shopping day in Miami!

Milan

The capital of fashion and design is another of the temples of shopping. A perfect destination for those who don't usually look at the ticket. At the top of the list is the Galleria Vittorio Emmanuele II, one of the oldest shopping centres in the world and home to the world's top luxury brands. And this is not the only attraction. The beauty of the building, with its glass and steel vault, makes it one of the city's main tourist attractions. Another of Milan's most glamorous areas is the Quadrilatero d'Oro, which encompasses the streets of Corso Venezia, Via Della Spiga, Via Monte Napoleone and Via Manzoni, all of which are lined with sophisticated luxury shops.

But if you're looking for something more affordable, head to Fidenza Village, a mini shopping village, where you can renew your wardrobe with brand-name clothes at up to 70% off. It's an hour and a half's drive from Milan.

Dubai

In the middle of the desert you can also melt your card. The most modern city in the United Arab Emirates is an obligatory stop for the privileged who are not afraid of prices and have a Gold card. In its shopping malls you can buy the latest fashions, but at prices that have little to do with those in other cities such as Bangkok. In the Dubai Mall (the largest shopping mall in the world, with even 5 hotels inside) and the Mall of the Emirates you will find shops of all brands.

And if you're a gold lover, make a stop at the Gold Souk. It's full of shops selling rings, bracelets, necklaces... from the most basic to real handmade works of art. And best of all, you can haggle over the price.

Bangkok

Bangkok is one of the best shopping destinations in the world. There are plenty of shopping malls, street markets and night markets where you'll find everything you can imagine, from imitations to clothes and electronics. You can load your suitcase with an infinite number of products at very good prices.

The most famous markets are Patpong Night Market, in the Silom area, and Suan Lum Night Bazaar, next to Lumpini Park. Here you can buy mainly souvenirs, but also imitations.

Istanbul

You don't need a reason to go to Istanbul, but one of them is to come back with a full suitcase. The top spot is the Grand Bazaar, a wonderful covered market with more than 60 streets and alleys and over 4,000 shops. You can buy everything here. But the city is also full of shopping arteries. Istikbal Avenue is the most popular, but if you're looking for luxury brands, head to Abdi Ipekci Street (in the Nisantasi neighbourhood) where you'll find Louis Vuitton, Christian Louboutin, Salvatore Ferragamo and Prada. Another elegant shopping area is very close to the Galata Tower. This is Serdar-i Ekrem Street, where you'll find charming little boutiques.
