Although the year has only just begun, travellers have not missed the opportunity to plan ahead for their next trips around the world. According to the latest study by Virtuoso, the world leader in luxury travel and experiences, unlike previous years where London was the most coveted European destination, 2023 welcomes Paris as the favourite destination for luxury travellers.

Overtaking Rome and London, Paris became the new favourite city for travellers submit pandemic in 2022 and 2023 shows no signs of relinquishing its popularity. To put it in perspective, although New York was the most booked city in 2022 - and is 13% ahead in its bookings for this year - Paris is the outright winner with bookings 96% higher than last year.

Paris is proving that money is no object when it comes to accessing luxury experiences, as despite being the most booked city, it is also the most expensive of the top 3 European cities for world travellers. On average, hotel rates in Paris are at least 30% higher than in Rome, and 21% higher than in London.

Is the beauty and elegance of "The City of Love" worth the expense? According to Virtuoso's data, yes. Compared to 2019, 2022 saw a 44% increase in the number of bookings to this historic city, and so far in 2023 bookings are already 33% higher than in 2019.
