At the Paris Air Show Airbus has shown the need to hire more than 13,000 new employees this year, a process that has already begun, filling more than 7,000 positions, more than half of its total target.

According to the Toulouse-based company, plans are already underway to fill the remaining positions with new hires that are critical to support its decarbonisation and production ramp-up goals.

"We are pleased to see that Airbus remains attractive despite the challenges of the labour market. Our recruitment efforts are paying off and will continue to support our production ramp-up and business transformation," said Thierry Baril, Head of Human Resources and Workplace at Airbus.

He added: "We are focused on attracting, training and developing the best diverse talent in our company to help us shape the future of sustainable aerospace.

The company offers thousands of job opportunities in manufacturing, engineering and activities that support Airbus' long-term goals, such as cyber security, software engineering and new propulsion technologies such as hydrogen, cryogenics, fuel cells.

One third of the total recruitment will go to recent graduates. To this end, Airbus has just signed an extension of its partnership with the Georgia Institute of Technology for another 5 years, in the framework of the Airbus Academic Programme with top 15 selected universities and schools worldwide.

In 2023, in addition to this strategic programme, Airbus expanded its academic partnerships with 42 business schools and universities worldwide, through agreements with CEMS, a consortium of 34 business schools and universities on six continents, and UNITECH, another consortium of eight engineering universities across Europe: Chalmers Sweden, INSA Lyon, Politecnico di Milano, Trinity Dublin, Aachen RTWH, ETH Zurich, Loughborough and University Polytechnic Barcelona. These partnerships will foster potential synergies in the aeronautics sector that will help develop the next generation of aerospace professionals.

Airbus currently employs more than 134,000 people in its businesses worldwide. In 2023, Airbus was awarded Top Employers certification in Europe, North America and Asia Pacific by the Top Employers Institute, an independent global authority that recognises excellence in people management and human resources policies.
