Greater Miami & Miami Beach launch branding for the 2026 World Cup

Celebrating "the beautiful game", FIFA and Greater Miami & Miami Beach unveiled #WeAre26, the official brand of the FIFA World Cup 26™.  The launch kicked off the destination countdown to what will be the world's largest single sporting event, spanning three countries - the United States, Canada and Mexico - and contested by 48 teams from around the world.

In June 2022, FIFA, the governing body of international football, announced the selection of Greater Miami and Miami Beach as the host destination for the 2026 FIFA World Cup™. "We are honoured that FIFA has chosen Miami to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup," said David Whitaker, president and CEO of the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau. "Our team, partners, local authorities, Hard Rock Stadium and community stakeholders have worked tirelessly since 2017 to bring the World Cup to Greather Miami and Miami Beach."

Hard Rock Stadium will host up to six games. The world-class facility, home to the National Football League's Miami Dolphins, has hosted high-profile sporting events including six Super Bowls, the Miami Open tennis tournament, the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix races and in 2017, Real Madrid's clash with FC Barcelona, the highest-grossing football match ever held in North America.

"The Hard Rock Stadium campus is a global entertainment destination that reflects Miami's dynamic, international culture," said Tom Garfinkel, vice chairman, president and CEO of the Miami Dolphins and Hard Rock Stadium. "We are excited to showcase our community on a world stage and deliver an incredible experience and best-in-class event for players and fans."

"We are working together to deliver the best experience this world-class destination can provide to those who participate either on the field, or from the sidelines, of this tournament," said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava.

While the schedule has yet to be confirmed, the games will take place in June and July 2026. "It's a moment when three countries and an entire continent collectively say, 'We are united as one to welcome the world'. The tournament will allow each host country and participating team to write its own page in the history books of FIFA World Cups, and this unique branding is an important step on that road to 2026," said FIFA president Gianni Infantino.

Why did FIFA select Greater Miami & Miami Beach?

Greater Miami & Miami Beach is a truly global destination. People want to visit to enjoy its beautiful beaches, museums, attractions, restaurants and diverse, multicultural neighbourhoods. "Miami-Dade is the ideal community to host the 2026 World Cup. Our residents come from all corners of the world, creating a vibrant metropolitan area like no other. Football runs through the veins of our county," adds Daniella.

Another important consideration is ease of access. Miami International Airport is centrally located, just 17 miles from Hard Rock Stadium, ranks second among US airports for international passengers, and offers more flights to and from Latin America and the Caribbean than any other airport in the country. In 2022 alone, it welcomed 26.5 million visitors from around the world, ranking Argentina fourth among Latin American countries.

FIFA vice-president and CONCACAF president Victor Montagliani said: "The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be a festival of football that will take the sport to new heights in the CONCACAF region and beyond. With 104 matches to be played in 16 cities in Canada, Mexico, Mexico
