Colombia consolidates as a tourist market: the flow of travellers abroad continues to grow

The Colombian Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies (ANATO) has revealed the countries that Colombians visit when they travel abroad.

Colombia continues to consolidate its position as an important tourist market in Latin America. The flow of Colombian travellers abroad continues to grow. Specifically, during the first half of this year, 2,460,473 Colombians left the country, representing a growth of 4% compared to the same period in 2022.

During this period, the performance of the month of June stands out, when the flow of Colombians abroad reached an increase of 2% over the same month of the previous year, with a record of 476,621. These are data provided by the Colombian Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies (ANATO).

In terms of the countries visited by Colombians when travelling abroad, the United States, Spain, Mexico, Panama and the Dominican Republic stand out.

On the other hand, the destinations that registered the highest growth in June, compared to the same month in 2022, were:

"Outbound tourism has shown opportunities for new markets that Colombians have shown great interest in discovering. The diversification of tourism is a reality that we are being able to carry out, thanks to the work done in the country's international air connectivity, which has allowed travellers to have a wider portfolio of destinations to choose from," said Paula Cortés, executive president of ANATO.
