Italy: Tourism announces 1.38 billion euros for tourism support

06-02-23

Italy's Tourism Minister Daniela Santanchè has announced the availability of €1.38 billion for tourism.  These funds have been provided by the PNRR, the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, and the opening of the PNRR measurement platform promoted by the Ministry and managed by Invitalia, the National Agency for Investment Attraction and Business Development SpA, which provides for a revolving fund for tourism, amounting to 1 billion and 380 million euros for accommodation facilities.

380 million for accommodation facilities. This will allow the start of energy, anti-seismic, restoration, rehabilitation and digitalisation works, as well as the purchase of furniture and the construction of swimming pools and spas.

This will concern hotels, country houses, open-air accommodation, marinas, restaurants, companies in the congress and exhibition sector, bathing establishments and spas.

From 25 January, companies can register on the FRITUR website, the Tourism Revolving Fund, consult all the necessary data and documentation, and from 30 January they can download the application forms.

From 1 March, companies will be able to enter their project on the Invitalia platform. During this period, applicants will have to work on the feasibility of their plans, go to their banks to present the project and, if the evaluation is positive, they will benefit from a part of the non-refundable CDP and the remaining part from their own bank.

For the minister, 'the problem now is no longer money but the implementation of projects to be completed by the end of December 2025. The imperative is therefore the use of these resources, also to take advantage of the favourable momentum of the Italian destination that in 2022 welcomed a total of 338 million Italian and foreign tourists, still 10% below the pre-COVID performance. In 2023 it is finally expected to be able to surpass 2019'.
