Saudi Arabia's position as a global tourist destination will continue to grow in 2024

With more than 16.7 million tourists this year, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia expects to welcome around 25 million visitors by 2024.

Religious tourism is very relevant in the Kingdom and represents almost half of the total percentage. In addition to this factor, the destination is preparing to host the World Expo 2030, a year in which it estimates it will receive 150 million tourists and generate one million jobs.

Tourism is one of the main tools that Saudi Arabia uses in its projection to the world as a result of the opening and cultural transformation of recent years. 

With events that had the destination as a venue, starting with the celebration of World Tourism Day in 2023, other important events will follow, such as the United Nations Environment Assembly in 2024, and in 2025 the 26th session of the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization, UNWTO, as steps prior to the World Expo 2030, which will be the most important growth and goal of the official representatives of the sector.

For this purpose, various infrastructure investments and strategic plans are being carried out with the aim of culminating in that year: for example, Riyadh received more than 92 million dollars for investments whose main objective is to consolidate the city as a tourist destination.
