Cruise lines opt for Africa to replace the Caribbean as a winter destination

Africa wants to replace the Caribbean as a winter cruise destination. With the arrival of winter, many travelers are looking for warm destinations to shelter from the cold and also exotic places. One of the most popular itineraries for ship travel is the Caribbean, however, it seems that the main shipping lines have found new destinations in Africa to surprise their clients.

According to various media reports, the latest major shipping line to dock on African shores - the trend now is to head for southern countries, as Mediterranean destinations have been on the cruise agenda for years - has been Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL).

For this season, the company has positioned the Norwegian Jade and Norwegian Dawn ships in southern Africa. Most itineraries sail from Cape Town (South Africa) and travel to other South African cities, as well as Namibia, Gambia or Senegal, among other destinations.

However, Norwegian Cruise Line is not the only company that cruises in Africa, in fact, the traveler has different shipping companies and categories to choose what kind of trip he wants, from MSC to Silversea's luxury cruises.
