Angelita Duarte de Melillo is the new Minister of Tourism of Paraguay

Angelita Angie Duarte de Melillo has been appointed as executive secretary of the National Secretariat of Tourism (Senatur), which reports to the Presidency of the Republic of Paraguay. The new head of the institution in charge of governing national tourism was previously in charge of the General Directorate of Culture and Tourism of the Municipality of Asuncion.

In terms of her academic background, the new Minister has a degree in Marketing and Administration. As Director General of Culture and Tourism of the Municipality of Asunción, she was in charge of the administration of the cultural centres and emblematic sites of the Municipality of Asunción, promoting all the cultural and artistic offerings of the capital city. He also promoted the project to convert Asunción into an Intelligent Tourist Destination (DTI).

In the tourism sector, Duarte de Melillo was president of the Women's Association of Businesswomen and Tourism Executives (AFEET), and was a member of the National Tourism Council (CONATUR) and a member of the Mandu'ara Cultural Association. Before joining the Municipality, she also served as Technical Advisor to the National Secretariat of Tourism, focusing her activities on the strategic plan for Meetings Tourism to position the country as a destination for national and international events, congresses and meetings, in coordination with the main associations of the country's tourism sector.

In the private sector, the new Minister's professional career is related to tourism, events and commercial areas, holding executive positions in the Bourbon Conmebol Asuncion Convention Hotel, La Misión Hotel Boutique and Granados Park Hotel.
