One of the first projects of the governor of the government of Quintana Roo, Ms. Mara Lezama, has come to fruition. She finally announces the arrival of the first Artisan Corridor in Tulum, a space where artisans will be able to promote, produce and sell their products.
With this first Artisan Corridor, the work of the original Mayan peoples is recognised and promoted, explained the Governor of Quintana Roo.
For her part, the head of the Ministry of Economic Development (SEDE), Karla Almanza López, explained that the project for the first Artisan Corridor in Tulum will have an investment of 400,000 pesos for the benefit of 24 artisans and was achieved thanks to an agreement with the National Fund for the Promotion of Handicrafts (FONART).
He explained that this integral project of intervention includes actions of formation and development (training), of production and services, as well as the creation of spaces for exhibition and sale of the artisan work, signposting of workshops and promotional material, necessary for its insertion in the market of the tourist promotion.
The Artisan Corridor in Tulum is another project based on the New Agreement for the Well-being and Development of Quintana Roo, promoted by Mara Lezama Espinosa, who is working on the positioning of artisan works so that they can be in the showcases of the world.
What will the Tulum Artisan Corridor be like?
She explained that the corridor will include the construction of four workshops in the communities of Manuel Antonio Ay, Francisco Uh May and Macario Gómez, Tulum.
He pointed out that one of the requirements is that the groups must be located in tourist destinations, magical towns or in states with a high density of crafts, which are conducive to offering handcrafted works to national and international tourists.
This resource will also be used for dissemination to attract tourists; awareness-raising and socialisation workshops, diagnoses of investment needs in infrastructure, equipment and training, and alliances with associations to strengthen tourism.
With this project, the artisans of Tulum will have an adequate space for the promotion and sale of their products, and will be able to obtain a better income and greater well-being.
