The Pro-Pedernales Trust has called for an open tender to contract the construction of the first hotel in the tourism development project in Cabo Rojo, Pedernales, to be operated by the Spanish chain Iberostar.

According to the tender documents, the hotel corresponds to lot 10 and will consist of 580 rooms, of some 4,730 that will make up Phase I of the Cabo Rojo project.

"We have just signed the authorisation to launch the tender for the first hotel to be operated by the Iberostar chain in the area of Cabo Rojo, Pedernales," announced Sigmund Freund, head of the General Directorate of Public Private Partnerships (DGAPP), on his Twitter account. "Today we move from dreams to reality".

The hotel will be built on an area of 241,654 square metres. It will have a convention hall, shops, restaurants, gym, spa, children's club, sports area and swimming pools, among other spaces.

The technical and economic offers will be received on 17 October at the offices of the Fideicomiso Pro-Pedernales, with a view to signing the contract after November of this year.

The funds to finance the cost of the contract come from the trust assets of the Pro-Pedernales Trust, created by Decree 724-20 of 22 December 2020.

The Directorate General of Public-Private Partnerships told Diario Libre that all the land and infrastructure being built in the Cabo Rojo project is owned by the Pro-Pedernales Trust, and the hoteliers will only be operators. The trust is now managed with state capital, but it is expected to receive private investment for the major works.
