In front of packed auditoriums, the 26th edition of the International Tourism Fair of Latin America took place in Buenos Aires from 1 to 4 October.

The inauguration of the most important tourism fair in Argentina was attended by Gustavo Hani president of FIT, CAT (Argentine Chamber of Tourism) and FAEVYT (Argentine Federation of Associations of Travel and Tourism Companies); the Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Nation, Matías Lammens; the President of the Ente de Turismo de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, Lucas Delfino; Yanina Martínez, Secretary of Tourism Promotion of the Nation; Sebastián Giobellina, President of the CFT; Alfredo González, President of CAME; Mario Ijelman, Vice-President of FIT and Enrique Pepino, President of Ferias Argentinas.

"We need tourism to continue to be understood as what it really is: a real generator of foreign exchange, genuine employment, development of regional economies and opportunities in every corner of our country," said Gustavo Hani during the opening ceremony.

Matías Lammens, Argentina's Minister of Tourism and Sports, said: "We have worked side by side with the governors of the 24 provinces and with the support of the private sector. The results are there for all to see: we are no longer talking about the recovery of the industry, but about growth. Tourism is one of Argentina's major industries and leads in employment growth rates. We are also recovering the pre-pandemic levels of inbound tourism and we expect to exceed them by the end of the year. We continue to work to make the sector one of the engines of our country's development".

Lucas Delfino, president of the Tourism Board of the City of Buenos Aires - host city of FIT - stressed that tourism is a "strategic point for Argentina" because "it generates genuine employment, especially among young people, and promotes foreign currency income".

FIT's agenda of activities offered the colour, flavour and experiences of more than 50 destinations from around the world and from all the provinces of Argentina, as well as the possibility for visitors to buy their next holiday with exclusive offers and packages at the Fair.

The union of fashion and tourism was also present in the exclusive Argentina Fashion and Travel fashion show, which featured the presence of renowned models and fashion references.
