TravelMag.com has just released its list of the world's most expensive hotels and, interestingly, Africa has a number of luxurious accommodations in the top 10.

The study compares the rates of luxury hotels and resorts around the world this summer, and the results are based on the minimum price for two people sharing a double room at a particular establishment this August.

With a minimum rate of $6,851 per night, the North Island Lodge, located on an exclusive private island in the Seychelles, came in first place. Second place went to One & Only Gorilla's Nest in Rwanda, an elegant retreat in the heart of the jungle and a popular base for gorilla-watching excursions.

The Amangiri, a remote lodge at Canyon Point in southern Utah, is the fifth most expensive lodge in the world this summer, with a minimum price of US$4,913 per night. This luxury resort, set in a protected valley overlooking the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, blends harmoniously into its spectacular setting of deep canyons and high plateaus.

Among the rest of the top 10 most expensive hotels are several African safari lodges, where guests can spend the day in search of exotic creatures before returning to their accommodations to relax in contemporary luxury. In fact, Africa is represented by no less than five of the top 10 most expensive hotels, including the Singita Grumeti Sasakwa Lodge in Tanzania ($5,800) and the Singita Lebombo Lodge in South Africa ($4,688).

The table below shows the 10 most expensive hotels and resorts in the world this summer. The rates shown reflect the minimum price per night for two people at each respective property for the period 1-31 August 2022.
