The International Network of Regenerative and Circular Intelligent Tourist Routes RTI Rc
The Regenerative and Circular Tourism Intelligence System SIT Rc allows the Smart Tourism Routes RTI a more regenerative, neutral and circular tourism activity. The innovative system designed by Dr. Molina will allow to measure and compare the positive impact of the Routes, in those local communities and territories adhered to each thematic network or itinerary.
This methodological approach for the RTI Rc, incorporates the results of more than 14 years of research in units and systems of Tourist Intelligence (SIT) and has synthetic indexes of territorial impact, incorporating indicators of social, economic and environmental sustainability, a model that always counts on the opinion and participation of residents and tourists.
The innovative SIT Rc has been tested thanks to the academic collaboration of the University of Valencia and its territorial implementation in the Bioseda Creativa Network of the Seda España Institute. A route with unique experiences that use the narrative of mulberry cultivation and worm breeding to highlight the natural and cultural heritage of rural municipalities.
The destinations adhered to the route, the companies and the tourists and residents acquire the commitment to compensate the C02 of the tourist activities by planting mulberry trees.
Currently, the Tourism Intelligence System (SIT-RC) is in an international launch phase with presentations in Lima Peru, Madrid fittur 2024 Spain and Tuluá Colombia last week. The members of the Tourist and Society Think Tank TSTT play a fundamental role in its application and adaptation to other Intelligent Tourism Networks in different countries, such as the World Network of Shopping and Religious Tourism, the Coffee and Cocoa Routes or the Route of the Incas. These Smart Tourism Routes connect destinations that transcend municipal and even transnational boundaries, thus highlighting the importance of public management in the implementation of participatory and coopetitive governance. In this sense, it is essential that territories not only compete, but also collaborate with each other.
Responsible tourism companies become "agents of change" by adhering to the RTI Rc, committing themselves to improving the impact of their activity on the local community, as well as to managing the territory's resources more efficiently. These companies are committed to offering services and experiences that highlight local heritage and contribute to the regeneration of rural and coastal ecosystems, promoting neutral, regenerative and circular tourism.
The key to this methodology lies in the use of digital technologies and in balancing the perspectives of tourists and residents on each route. Therefore, it is crucial to have homogeneous indicators to measure and compare the engagement of travelers and residents. Promoting the consumption of local products, the respect and protection of ecosystems, the minimization of impacts and resource consumption, as well as learning about local customs and gastronomy, as fundamental elements that will allow RTI Rc to become drivers of change towards a regenerative and circular tourism model.
We believe that the Tourism and Society Think Tank TSTT and this new International Network of Smart Tourism Routes (RTI Rc) will serve as promoters of this innovative multi-destination regenerative tourism approach. A networked model, which will offer destinations adhering to the routes, digital tools and innovative sustainable solutions, fundamental to offer unique experiences of high sustainable, neutral and circular value, with a measurable and comparable positive impact between connected territorial nodes.
The presentation of the SIT CR methodology at the II National Congress of Shopping, Leisure and Entertainment Tourism in Tuluá, Valle del Cauca, Colombia, allowed to show attendees from different countries, the benefits of implementing and adapting the SIT CR in the global Shopping Network and the importance of incorporating tourism intelligence in the Future Governance, generating data and geo-positioned experiences that allow to promote the sharing of data and information in the observatories of each Route.
The RTI Network will be the first to implement this innovative methodology that accelerates the transformation towards a regenerative and circular tourism in which all its members (destinations, tourism companies, tourists and residents) will be winners.
