A strategic project for the Canary Islands
As Territorial Delegate, the CIT Northeast assumes the mission of promoting the creation and promotion of an integral destination of religious tourism in the archipelago. This project will seek to position the Canary Islands in the international arena, taking advantage of its rich cultural and religious heritage, which includes emblematic monuments such as the Sanctuary of Candelaria, the Christ of La Laguna, the pilgrimage routes in Gran Canaria and the lustral descents in the islands.
“Religious tourism not only connects visitors with their faith, but also strengthens the economic and social fabric of our islands. This recognition marks the beginning of an exciting path to position the Northeast of Tenerife and the rest of the archipelago as a global reference in this tourism segment,” highlighted Crisanto M. Gutiérrez Alonso, president of CIT Nordeste.
