CIMET is once again the nexus of tourism in Ibero-America and Spain

The Ibero-American Conference of Tourism Ministers and Entrepreneurs CIMET will once again open the program of activities at FITUR on the morning of Tuesday, January 21. Under the honorary presidency of King Felipe VI, tourism ministers from 14 Ibero-American countries will present the latest developments in their tourist destinations and incentives designed to boost investment by Spanish companies. In addition to their speeches, the Ibero-American ministers will participate in three panel discussions on Hotels, Operators and Sustainability, led by the presidents of the Tourism Board, Juan Molas, the Spanish Confederation of Travel Agencies, Carlos Garrido, and the Institute for Tourism Quality and Sustainability, Miguel Mirones.
After more than a quarter of a century of punctual annual appointment, that not even the pandemic could interrupt, the 28th edition of CIMET will gather half a thousand businessmen, professionals and experts. The Ibero-American Conference will be inaugurated by the Secretary of State for Tourism, Rosario Sánchez Grau. Organized for almost three decades by the NEXO Group in collaboration with the CEOE Tourism Council, Ifema and FITUR, “CIMET is an effective link between tourism in Ibero-America and Spain,” in the words of its founder and president, Eugenio de Quesada, “and is at the service of the tourism sector, especially SMEs”. The closing will be in charge of the president of the Tourism Council of CEOE, Juan Cierco.
The main novelty of this edition will be the presentation of InvesTurAmerica, CIMET's new digital platform to facilitate the internationalization of tourism in Latin America, conceived as “a working tool at the service of Spanish tourism SMEs, which will be fully operational next March”, and which has the support of tourism business organizations and financing from the NextGeneration European Funds.
The Ministers of Tourism of 14 nations will participate in CIMET: Daniel Scioli (Argentina), Juan Oswaldo Manrique Camargo (Colombia), William Rodríguez López (Costa Rica), Juan Carlos García (Cuba), Mateo Julián Estrella Durán (Ecuador),
Morena Valdez (El Salvador), Harris Whitbeck (Guatemala), Yadira Gómez (Honduras), Anasha Campbell (Nicaragua), Gloria de León (Panama), Angie Duarte de Melillo (Paraguay), Williannet Robles Cancel (Puerto Rico) and Eduardo Sanguinetti (Uruguay), as well as Rosario Sánchez (Spain).
CIMET 2025 will feature speeches by Héctor Coronel, director general of Madrid Tourism; Daniel Martínez, executive vice president of IFEMA; Juan Molas, president of the Spanish Tourism Board; Jorge Marichal, president of the Spanish Confederation of Hotels and Tourist Accommodation; Carlos Garrido de la Cierva, president of the Spanish Confederation of Travel Agencies; Víctor Moneo, director of alliances and strategic agreements of the Iberia Group; Juan Carlos González, CEO and general manager of Ávoris Corporación Empresarial, Rodrigo Esponda, general manager of promotion of Los Cabos (Baja California Sur), among others.
