Call for entries for the Africa Youth Tourism Innovation Challenge 2025

16-02-25

As the 28 February 2025 deadline approaches for the 7th Africa Youth Tourism Innovation Challenge, Africa Tourism Partners, in partnership with UN Tourism, is calling for young innovators from across the continent to submit their transformative projects in the tourism sector. This initiative seeks to empower African youth by providing them with funding opportunities, mentorship, partnerships and global exposure to bring their revolutionary ideas to fruition.

The Africa Youth Tourism Innovation Challenge has established itself as a unique platform that invites 18-35 year olds, as well as graduate students of all ages globally, to submit innovative solutions in the field of tourism.

Participants can be individuals, associations or corporations that are introducing innovations in the sector. Proposals must clearly detail the vision and uniqueness of the project, evidence of its innovative character, sustainability and impact, timeline for implementation, type of support required and a minimum viable product (MVP).

Projects will be evaluated on the basis of their originality, sustainability, relevance, applicability, transferability, practical feasibility and potential impact. A panel of expert judges will use these criteria to select the most promising proposals that will make a significant contribution to tourism development in Africa.

Africa Tourism Youth Summit Africa 2025 in Nairobi

The top five finalists will be announced during the 7th Africa Youth Tourism Summit (AYTIS) 2025, scheduled for 10-13 June 2025 in Nairobi, Kenya. This event will bring together key players in African tourism, young visionary entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, technology investors, innovators and enthusiastic students. The summit, organised in collaboration with the Kenya Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife, BDO, TEAMS Africa, AfCFTA Secretariat, Kenya Tourism Board and Millvest, promises to be a milestone for collaboration and innovation in Africa's tourism, creative and cultural industries.

Summit attendees will be able to participate in one-on-one meetings (B2B, B2G and B2C), accelerated marketing sessions, exhibitions, masterclasses for MICE entrepreneurs and youth, as well as brand activation platforms. Space will be allocated for desktop exhibits on a first-come, first-served basis, offering advantages to those who register early. Registration to participate and submit projects to the challenge is still open on the official summit website.

Africa Tourism Partners and its strategic partners are excited by the positive response to this call for proposals and encourage all young innovators who have not yet submitted their proposals to take advantage of the remaining days to do so. This is a unique opportunity for Africa's young and creative minds to contribute to the future of tourism on the continent by accessing resources and networks that can transform their ideas into tangible realities.
