Peru leads in inclusive tourism with more than 50 accessible experiences

Peru has taken a significant step towards inclusion in the tourism sector by implementing more than 50 accessible and inclusive experiences across the country. This initiative, promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) as part of its ‘Social Tourism’ strategy, seeks to ensure that people with disabilities, reduced mobility and older adults can enjoy the country's cultural and natural wealth without barriers.

These experiences have been developed in collaboration with local actors and validated through pilots carried out with the beneficiaries themselves, ensuring that the proposals respond effectively to their needs. In addition, more than 20 tourism resources have been recognised with the international TUR4all Accessible Tourism label, certifying that they have adequate accessibility conditions in services and facilities.

Among the cultural spaces that have improved their inclusive infrastructure are the Bandurria Monumental Archaeological Site and the Pachacámac Site Museum, which have incorporated haptic maps, 3D pieces and Braille panels. This year, the Chan Chan Archaeological Zone in La Libertad and the Regional Historical Museum of Cusco will be added, expanding the offer of accessible destinations for all.
