The Tourism Visioneer Observatory, developed by Tourism Visioneer-MTA Connect, led by Dr. Fernando Molina, and supported by Tourism and Society Think Tank, chaired by Mr. Antonio Santos del Valle, and in collaboration with renowned institutions, will provide an analytical framework to measure the impact of tourism on local communities and the environment. Aiming to promote responsible tourism practices, the observatory will focus on innovative solutions that enable the regeneration of destinations and the well-being of resident communities, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

A tourism model for a new era

During the presentation, the observatory's founders highlighted their commitment to transforming tourism destinations by incorporating advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence and tourism impact indicators. Key tools to be implemented include ResiTur, which will measure the experience of residents and tourists, and the Smart Tourism Destinations Digital Maturity Index (IMD), which will allow destinations to assess their ability to adapt to the digital era.

The observatory will not only measure the impact of tourism, but will also act as a knowledge transfer platform, connecting tourism destinations, universities and research centers around the world. This will enable the development of data-driven strategies that benefit both tourism businesses and local communities.

Sustainability and innovation as pillars

One of the highlights of Tourism Visioneer is its focus on sustainability and innovation. During the event, the importance of reducing the ecological footprint of tourism and promoting responsible use of natural resources was stressed. The observatory will implement measures to minimize the impact of tourism on local ecosystems, encouraging conscious consumption by tourists, residents and businesses.

Through supra-municipal and transnational alliances, multi-destination networks will be generated or created that will allow the development of thematic tourism itineraries, such as coffee and cacao routes, cultural routes, biodiversity, wine tourism, and others that will benefit both emerging and consolidated destinations.

A sustainable future for tourism

The Tourism Visioneer Observatory is presented as a key tool for the transformation of tourism in the 21st century, offering practical and replicable solutions for destinations of all sizes. With its focus on innovation and sustainability, it promises to drive positive change that will position tourism destinations in a new global paradigm.
