Peru Travel Mart 2024: Peru consolidates its position as a strategic hub for attracting international visitors

Peru Travel Mart 2024 was declared of national tourist interest by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism.
During the successful three days of the thirty-first edition, the Peru Travel Mart 2024 exceeded the original expectations consolidating itself as the most important professional event of the tourism sector including tables and negotiation rounds for the purchase and sale of the most outstanding tourism products and services of Peru. In this year's edition, more than six thousand appointments and US$18 million in commitments for next year were made.
The more than 165 buyers who came from 28 countries such as the United States, Canada, Spain, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Germany, the United Kingdom, South Korea, China, India, Chile, Colombia, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico and Ecuador, among others, highlighted Peru's rich culture, history and biodiversity, as well as its gastronomy.

Among the most sought-after tourist destinations were Cusco, Arequipa, Lambayeque and Amazonas, whose regional governments and provincial municipalities (Arequipa) participated strongly in the event. Also present were representatives of community tourism from the Uros of Puno and Yachaqs of Cusco, among others.
Maritza Montero, President of the organizing committee of the event during the closing cocktail at the Country Club Hotel said: “Every year we try to improve and make this event bigger, we are sure that by 2025 we will be able to attend more domestic and foreign companies, as well as have greater participation of the regions to achieve more business in a decentralized manner. Peru's doors will always be open to you, we have to continue working for the growth of tourism”. He added that Peru is being offered as a meeting point for tourists from North America, Europe and Asia to come to Latin America.
The Vice Minister of Tourism, Madeleine Burns, commented on why the Peru Travel Mart is an event of national tourist interest, thanked CANATUR for the organization and the effort shared by the public and private sectors. She also thanked the national entrepreneurs for their commitment and passion to promote Peru as a destination. He concluded, “You are the heart of this industry”.
It is worth mentioning that during the event, the President of the Republic, Dina Boluarte, was present and commented that it is expected to close the year with 3.5 million international tourists arriving to the country, as well as the participation of the Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Desilú León, who said that the tourism sector represents 2.9% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and generates around 1.3 million jobs. These figures represent an increase over the previous year.
