Historic record for Dominican tourism under David Collado's administration

The Dominican Republic's tourism industry has reached an unprecedented milestone, with more than 31 million visitors registered from August 2020 to July 2024. This impressive growth, announced by Tourism Minister David Collado, highlights an unparalleled boom period for the sector.
In the first seven months of this year, the country has received 6,968,623 tourists, significantly surpassing previous years' figures. Compared to the same period last year, this represents an increase of 11%, and 41% more than in 2022. Compared to 2019, visits are up 44%, and 48% over 2018.
In the month of July alone, the Dominican Republic welcomed 811,192 visitors by air, an increase of 2% compared to the previous year and 10% more than in 2022. Cruise arrivals also experienced a notable boom, with 206,704 passengers in July, equivalent to a 39% increase over last year and a staggering 148% more compared to 2019.

The sustained growth in tourism during the January-July period is evident in the figures: 5,286,174 tourists arrived by air, up 8% over the same period last year and 27% more than in 2019. Meanwhile, cruise arrivals totaled 1,682,449, reflecting a 19% increase over last year and a spectacular 156% compared to 2019.
David Collado stressed that these results not only surpass previous records, but demonstrate a continued strengthening of the tourism sector under his management. The total number of visitors from August 2020 to July 2024 underscores the success of the strategies implemented and the growing attraction of the Dominican Republic to tourists from all over the world.
