California wildfires put its tourism industry at risk

Emergency crews continue to battle a massive fire in Northern California as authorities warn of increasing winds and daytime temperatures.
The fire, known as the Park Fire, burning north of Chico, has devastated more than 357,000 acres (144,500 hectares), making it the seventh largest fire in state history on record.
Cal Fire incident commander Billy See reported that progress was made Saturday, thanks to light winds and cool weather, allowing firefighters to declare 12% of the fire controlled.
However, he warned that by Sunday, increased solar heating and stronger winds in the upper canyons are hampering efforts to control the fire, which has also shown increasing activity.
The fire has led to approximately 4,200 people in Butte County being evacuated from their homes. The fire is raging through a mountainous, rural area located about 90 miles north of Sacramento, the state capital.
Firefighters are facing multiple challenges due to the rugged terrain, and about 4,000 people are working to contain the fire, which has also required the use of aircraft and bulldozers. The fire has generated a huge plume of dense smoke that has spread to neighboring states.
Meanwhile, in western Canada, wildfires destroyed nearly a third of the beloved tourist town of Jasper before being brought under control on Sunday.
