Marbella's health and wellness sector will meet at the 'World Wellness Weekend'. It will be held from 15 to 17 September in different locations in the town centre, with the participation of 300 professionals. "It is an event that is being held simultaneously at an international level," said the director of Tourism, Laura de Arce, who indicated that this year more than 1,600 free initiatives are expected to take place. "This year we want to break all the records and also once again show our strength in this tourist segment," she said.

The Parque de la Constitución, the Paseo de la Alameda and the Terrazas del Puerto Deportivo will be the venues for this event, which will start on Friday 15th at 9.30 am and will last until Sunday 17th at 9.00 pm. It will include numerous activities related to personal development, sport, food, music, relaxation and treatments.

There will also be two charity events, a picnic and a dinner to benefit the CADI Association, as well as innovative proposals such as laughter yoga, a massage marathon and a bobbin lace exhibition. "We have managed to create an event where the whole family can enjoy a host of very original and participatory options," said the ambassador of the meeting, Lucía Romero, who recalled that last year the municipality won the award for the most active city in the world for the extensive programme organised.

The full programme can be consulted on the official website of the event, https://map.world-wellness-weekend.org/

Direct flights have put this West African country on the winter sun map for the British market. An example of this is TUI, which was already promoting the destination, hand in hand with Spanish hotelier RIU, and which for the winter of 2024 will even bring the flights forward even further, starting on 7 October.

Also committed to the destination is the specialised tour operator The Gambia Experience, which not only offers direct flights to Dakar, but also offers connections via river ferry after landing in Banjul (Gambia). Karen Durham, product manager for The Gambia Experience, points out that Senegal, unlike other destinations, offers a taste of African culture and French-influenced cuisine (along with local dishes), and wildlife experiences where you can witness big game in its natural habitat.

World Wellness Weekend'

World Wellness Weekend (WWW) is an annual global event dedicated to promoting the importance of well-being, health, and wellness for individuals. It usually takes place over a weekend in September and involves thousands of venues across numerous countries offering free workshops, activities, and treatments to help people improve their physical and mental health.

The event was initiated in 2017 and has since grown significantly, attracting a large number of participating countries and venues.

WWW's activities are based on five pillars which encompass various aspects of wellness. These pillars include Sleep & Creativity, Nutrition & Natural Beauty, Vitality & Movement, Serenity & Mindfulness, and Purpose & Solidarity.

Wellness professionals, spas, gyms, yoga studios, and other wellness-related venues typically participate by offering special events or activities. This can include things like free yoga classes, meditation sessions, wellness workshops, and more.

The overarching goal is to encourage people around the world to take some time for themselves, to focus on their well-being and to explore different aspects of wellness that they might not have considered before.

In just a few years since its inception, WWW has expanded rapidly. By 2020, thousands of venues across 120 countries participated, demonstrating the global appeal and recognition of the importance of wellness.

Leading up to the weekend, participants and venues typically promote their planned activities on social media, using dedicated hashtags like #WorldWellnessWeekend to help spread the word and engage a larger audience.
