The tourism sector has once again shown its strength and resilience. In this sense, global travel is increasing and all regions are recovering faster than expected, with the Asia-Pacific region leading the list, according to data from the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) and Oxford Economics.

As part of the opening of the 23rd WTTC Global Summit, held in Kigali, capital of Rwanda, its president, Julia Simpson, has stressed that the latest figures highlight "the importance and resilience of the sector."

"This trend underscores the growing demand for travel. The performance of the global sector is exceeding expectations," Simpson added. The Global Summit brings together industry leaders and government officials from around the world to continue to align efforts for the sector's recovery and address the challenges ahead to ensure a "safer, more secure, resilient, inclusive and sustainable" travel and tourism sector.

Under the theme "Building Bridges to a Sustainable Future," the event focuses on the value of the sector, not only to the global economy, but to the planet and communities.
