The United States foresees record tourism in 2023

The so-called 'Economic Impact Research, EIR 2023' by the WTTC, the World Travel and Tourism Council, reveals that the US travel and tourism sector is forecast to surpass the 2019 peak this year.

The sector is set to contribute $2.24 trillion to the country's economy, surpassing the peak signed in 2019, just before the pandemic, which amounted to $2.17 trillion.

WTTC believes that the sector will create more than 1.2 million jobs in 2023, recovering almost all of the jobs lost due to the COVID-19 pandemic, reaching 17.4 million.

For Simpson, 'the number of jobs created by Travel & Tourism is 16 million, but by the end of this year it will reach almost 17.4 million jobs, only 1% below 2019 figures'.

'International visitor spending continues to lag and, despite the recent increase, we are still 25% below 2019 levels.'

Over the next 10 years, WTTC forecasts that travel and tourism will account for nearly 21 million jobs, a figure of one in eight jobs nationwide.

The United States remains the world's largest travel and tourism market, although predictions show that China will take that crown in 2032,' he said.
