Ukraine presents the international Meet Ukraine programme at FITUR with the TSTT

18-01-23

The delegation from the European country will be led by Mariana Oleskiv, President of the State Agency for Tourism Development of Ukraine, and Pavlo Kukhta, former Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine.

Under the slogan Meet Ukraine, the European country has presented its extensive agenda of events, cultural, institutional, business and commercial meetings to be held in Spain from 16 to 20 January 2023, with the aim of creating a bridge of collaboration between Ukraine, Spain and all interested countries participating in FITUR Madrid, from 16 to 20 January 2023.

Main Objectives

Meet Ukraine has been conceived to give visibility to the current situation in Ukraine in the areas of tourism, heritage, infrastructure and business in general. In addition, the plan aims to build bridges of collaboration between Ukraine, Spain and countries and tourism companies that will meet at FITUR 2023, as well as to hold meetings with the authorities of international cities twinned with Ukraine, with the aim of strengthening social, cultural and commercial ties. In addition, the initiative seeks multilateral cooperation tools, without forgetting to generate collaboration agreements with institutions and companies and Ukrainian tourism and trade authorities for the development of joint projects.

Other objectives

With sustainability and the strengthening of cultural heritage in mind, one of the objectives of the programme is to carry out an analysis of tourism policies. It will also raise awareness of investment and development opportunities in the Ukrainian tourism sector. It also aims to create a space for connection between Ukraine and cultural, tourist and educational entities in Spain and the rest of the world.

It will also present the current situation and future programmes for the preservation of Ukraine's cultural heritage through the O-City Technology platform. Another goal will be the development and analysis of cooperation mechanisms between educational entities and the Ukrainian state.

Finally, Meet Ukraine will analyse financial mechanisms available to collaborate with Ukrainian teams working in the tourism and cultural sector, paying special attention to the legal aspects of developing cooperation with this country.

In order to provide the most up-to-date and detailed information on these aspects of tourism, investment and development of the country, Meet Ukraine invites requests for exclusive press meetings with representatives of the Ukrainian Government. The official delegation of Ukrainian government officials present at FITUR, Mariana Oleskiv, President of the State Agency for Tourism Development of Ukraine, and Pavlo Kukhta, former Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine, will be available to accredited journalists who request an exclusive interview.

In addition, they will answer the relevant questions raised at the press conferences called for this purpose, as they will be present in Spain as part of their Meet Ukraine tour from 16 to 20 January at the Madrid event. Apart from the communication actions themselves, an intense agenda of meetings has been established with companies and entities in our country with which the signing of various agreements and collaboration agreements is foreseen.

Proposals to Spanish and international institutions at FITUR

As part of Meet Ukraine's initiatives, institutions from Spain and around the world present at FITUR 2023, national governments, local governments, universities, ministries of culture and tourism, chambers of commerce and civil society institutions, will maintain contact with the aforementioned Ukrainian delegation.

Following these meetings, Meet Ukraine proposes the drafting of a joint declaration recognising the current situation and the need to join forces for the future reconstruction of Ukraine's cultural heritage. It also urges the signing of economic, cultural and development collaboration agreements between Ukrainian and Spanish entities and interested countries gathered at FITUR 2023. And finally, it aims to show the world the leadership of the tourism sector in matters of regional interest and to set out a roadmap for collaboration between states.

Tourism and Society Think Tank (TSTT) and Ukraine

In addition to the activities planned for Meet Ukraine, the Tourism and Society Think Tank (TSTT) will manage the reconstruction of tourism in Ukraine. Chaired for the first time by a Spaniard, Antonio Santos, this entity is a space open to professionals who, independently of their institutional and business relationship, present concepts, ideas, tools and innovative trends.

Its objectives are focused on providing information and pointing out the risks and opportunities of a sector whose social, economic and cultural impact is of the first order, at the same time as contributing to the knowledge of the tourism industry, the types of tourism and its social impact, and analysing tourism trends with the participation of the related actors and agents.

In order to address the issues with the maximum qualification and solvency, TSTT is made up of professional experts in different areas of tourism and society. Furthermore, it should be noted that, regardless of the corporate and institutional positions they represent, all of them make up a great space for reflection, consultancy and advice for professionals, companies and institutions that develop their activity in the field of Tourism and society in general.

Faced with the constant change that the world in general and tourism in particular are experiencing, which is causing a lack of certainty in determining policies and decision-making; together with the concern for the sustainability of the planet, and the frenetic social, economic, cultural and technological dynamism, Tourism and Society Think Tank is a space where professionals from different fields can reflect, present and have access to safe and innovative proposals.

Aware that tourism activity is characterised by communication relations in which contact with other human beings is essential and fundamental, and shapes the behaviour of both the individual and society as a whole, and generates impacts at individual, family and collective levels, producing a series of cultural, social and economic effects, the TSTT establishes a fluid and fertile channel that allows for the promotion and interrelation between professionals through professional meetings, publications, interviews, training proposals, communication, etc. Not surprisingly, the results of the laboratory of ideas are translated into general and personalised proposals for each member.
