The best apps for cheap travel this 2023

15-01-23

Nowadays, mobile phones have become an indispensable tool, as they help us to organise our activities, document the best moments, share them with those we love the most and, why not, make our trips easier. On this occasion, we recommend apps to get the most out of your device and give you a getaway without affecting your economy. Take note:

Skyscanner

This platform searches, compares, gives suggestions and alerts (in the mobile version) of the cheapest flights on the market. It also offers the possibility of creating your own user profile so that your data and history are synchronised across your devices. Best of all, it does not generate commissions or extra costs.

SeatGuru

Created by TripAdvisor, SeatGuru is used to locate and compare airline fares, including low-cost airlines. It also has aircraft seat maps and suggests the best seats for your needs, with the ability to book your seat instead of waiting for it to be assigned to you. It works from their website which is also mobile compatible.

Kayak

It is a great metasearch engine with a very complete app, which filters and compares prices for flights, hotels, as well as car rentals. It also has tools such as real-time flight tracking and basic airline information.

Checkmybus

This is a metasearch engine for bus travel and other means of transport such as trains, planes or carpooling. This application sorts by criteria such as departure and arrival time, price and the company providing the service, so that you can choose the best option for your pocket.

Pack Point

Sometimes, we forget to pack essential items for our trip or the weather takes us by surprise, causing an expense that could have been avoided. Pack Point is designed especially for these situations. With filters such as destination, weather and activities, it creates a checklist of items you can't leave at home. Additionally, the application includes detailed information about the place you will visit, forms of transport and what you can do.

BlaBlaCar

This platform seeks to generate economical and sustainable travel by connecting travellers who want to share their car with people going to the same destination. All this allows you to save on petrol, bus fares and bus fares.

Transit

This application aims to help travellers save on transport within cities, as it offers guidance on how to get from one place to another using public transport such as buses and the metro, including data such as timetables, waiting times and journey times. In our country it is only available in Mexico City.

Citymapper

Like Transit, it offers guidance for getting around the city easily using public transport or other means such as bicycles, with step-by-step directions. It has coverage in Mexico City.

AirBnB

International in scope, it connects property owners with tourists. It offers everything from rooms to flats or houses where you can stay at a lower price than conventional hotels.

Couchsurfing

The literal translation of couchsurfing is "surfing a couch" which means "looking for a couch" and consists of a person who offers a space in their home, a bed or couch for accommodation for a few nights, as well as giving advice on places to visit. You can also meet other tourists in the same destination and build your own travel tribe, all for an affordable monthly or yearly fee.

Worldpackers

Offers the chance to experience new destinations by exchanging work (volunteering) for accommodation with hosts around the world.

Moovit

A public transport application that provides real-time information on bus, train, tram and metro routes in more than 3,500 cities in 112 countries around the world. It uses data from public transport operators, users and traffic cameras to provide accurate real-time transport arrival information. It also provides information on alternative routes, as well as interactive maps and a journey planner function.
