Paraguay will host the meeting of UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage Committee in 2024

Paraguay was designated as host at the 18th Session of UNESCO's Intergovernmental Committee for Intangible Cultural Heritage, held in the city of Kasane, in Botswana, Africa.
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, abbreviated as Unesco, is a specialized agency of the United Nations. The 19th Session of the Organization's Intergovernmental Committee for Intangible Cultural Heritage will be held in our country in 2024.
We recall that the 60-list Poncho Para'i, one of the most representative symbols of Paraguayan culture, was recognized earlier this December as intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO. Thus, "The ancestral and traditional techniques of making Poncho Para'í de 60 Listas, from the city of Piribebuy, Republic of Paraguay" are now included in the aforementioned list.
At the meeting held in Kasane, the delegates present had the opportunity to appreciate Paraguay's tourism potential through Senatur's audiovisual material "Paraguay, Just For You".
The "intangible cultural heritage" consists of the uses, representations, expressions, knowledge and techniques -together with the instruments, objects, artifacts and cultural spaces that are inherent to them- that communities, groups and in some cases individuals recognize as an integral part of their identity.
