China's Official Holiday Calendar for 2024 Published

Following a meeting with China Tourism officials, they have reminded TSTT journalists of the official public holiday calendar for 2024 that details specific dates of national holidays, providing essential guidance for both citizens and businesses in planning activities and operations during the coming year.
This calendar includes both traditional Chinese holidays, such as Chinese New Year and the Mid-Autumn Festival, as well as national commemorative days. The release of this calendar is a highly anticipated annual event, as it has a significant impact on the planning of economic, social and cultural activities throughout the country.
The government has also reiterated its commitment to preserving and promoting China's rich cultural heritage through the celebration of these holidays. In addition, special attention has been paid to coordinating these dates with peak work and school periods, thus seeking a balance between work, rest and celebration.
The most important things to know:
The Spring Festival falls between 10 and 17 February, 2024. The Chinese New Year’s Eve (9 February, 2024) is labeled as a working day on the official schedule. However, employers are encouraged to arrange paid leave for employees on that day. Adjusted working days are 4 February, 2024 (Sunday) and 18 February, 2024 (Sunday).
Qing Ming Festival falls on a Thursday (4 April, 2024) and extends to Saturday (6 April, 2024). Sunday (7 April, 2024) is an adjusted working day.
Labor Day (May Day) is a 5-day holiday, which is one of the peak time for travel during the year.
The Mid-Autumn Festival falls between 15 September, 2024 and 17 September, 2024, totaling to three rest days. 14 September, 2024 (Saturday) is an adjusted working day.
The National Day holiday totals to 7 rest days. Adjusted working days are 29 September, 2024 and 12 October, 2024.
