According to Vietravel, the high-spending group is expected to account for 5-10 per cent of the company's total customers, doubling from 3-5 per cent in the pre-pandemic period.
Nguyen Hong Trang, a representative of Asia Destination Management JSC, said the number of such customers accounts for 10 per cent of his firm's total, but generates revenues 10 times higher than normal customers.
Chinese tourists are among the biggest spending groups worldwide, with an average of 1,800 dollars per person on an overseas trip.
Huynh Phan Phan Phuong Hoang, deputy director of Vietravel, revealed that the company and Vietravel Airlines are planning charter flights to bring passengers from major Chinese cities to Vietnam.
Communication activities to promote Vietnam tourism are also targeting China's trending social media and technology platforms, such as Weibo, TikTok, WeChat, QQ and Baidu, he added.
The manager commented that Chinese travellers with medium and high spending capacity require personalised services, so her business has coordinated with resorts across the country to develop luxury tours that take tourists to many destinations.
Meanwhile, Ho Huu Huynh, representative of Ho Chi Minh City-based Beibao Go International Travel Co., Ltd, said the firm is launching two strategic market research products targeting Chinese trade associations and enterprises wishing to seek investment opportunities in Vietnam after a three-year pause due to COVID-19.
