Peru: national and Chilean tour operators interested in Pucallpa

The Amazon Life Organization and the Amazon World Tourism Corporation expressed their satisfaction with the results of the First National and International Meeting of Tour Operators, which took place recently in the city of Pucallpa (Ucayali) and was attended by operators from Peru and Chile.

Giovanna Vega Vázquez, Manager of the Amazon World Tourist Corporation and president of the Regional Chamber of Tourism of Ucayali, informed that the operators highlighted the tourist benefits offered by their jurisdiction and the Waterfall Circuit, as well as the Yarinacocha Lagoon.

The meeting was attended by the Mayor of the District of Yarinacocha, Bertha Barbaran Bustos, the Deputy Director of Internal Tourism, Laura Alegria, who inaugurated the event, "Pucallpa, Land of Legends".

Vega Vásquez indicated that Pucallpa hosted this type of event for the first time and its purpose was to position the Ucayali Region (Pucallpa) as an attractive tourist destination for Peruvians and foreigners.

"We believe that all the objectives have been more than achieved, as it showed the best that this Peruvian jungle has, its modernity, its tourist infrastructure, its products and culture, as well as the best that its friendly and cheerful population has", said the businesswoman.

 Waterfalls and Yarinacocha Circuits

The tourism entrepreneurs had the opportunity to get to know the Province of Padre Abad, and witnessed the beauty of the Selva Alta del Ucayali, making a stopover in San Alejandro (The Cacao Kingdom in Ucayali), reaching Aguaytia and the Boqueron de Padre Abad.

They witnessed the Blue Mountains (Cordillera Azul National Park), knowing the beauty of the waterfalls such as the Ducha del Diablo and the Velo de la Novia, where they shared a lunch in the Amazonian style, remembering the patronal feast of San Juan with the delicious juanes.

Then, they moved to Yarinacocha, a locality that showed its best face considering the radiant sun during the day and later, a refreshing rain.

According to the business leader, they were able to appreciate the nature of the jungle in all its splendour and visited the community of 11 August, "where we learned about basketry with the caña brava".

"In the community of San Francisco, the cherry on the cake was put on the cake, as the community was able to show all their cultural manifestations such as dance, singing and their ancient crafts. It was a special moment to be received by one of the best artisans in Peru and a great representative of the Shipibo - Conibo people, Agustina Valera, a worthy representative of this native people", she said.

Finally, Giovanna Vega, Manager of Amazon World affirmed that not only the brands of the participating companies were sold, but also the whole city.

"When one shows these potentials, it benefits everyone and all the economic activities of this part of Peru", she concluded.
