American Express Global Business Travel (Amex GBT) has joined the World Economic Forum. Initially, Amex GBT's involvement will be based on the development of sustainable initiatives in the business travel market, through the Forum's Mobility Platform.

The World Economic Forum is an independent, non-profit organization committed to improving the environment by engaging leaders from business, politics, academia, etc. to shape global, regional and industry agendas. Currently, Amex GBT is the only corporate travel agency that is a member.

Its platform is designed to bring together the world's leading mobility companies, policy makers and stakeholders from all sectors to implement safe, clean and inclusive global mobility systems.

In the words of Paul Abbott, CEO of Amex GBT: "Travel has a positive impact. They are the engine of the global economy, stimulating trade and growth. They drive social progress by bringing people together, connecting communities, helping to break down barriers and building respect and empathy. For the world to continue to enjoy these benefits, we must address the impact of travel-related carbon emissions on the environment.

Specifically, Amex GBT plans to engage in a number of initiatives with the Forum: working across the entire aviation value chain to achieve sectoral zero emissions targets by 2050, driving demand for new technologies and innovation to reduce emissions in the sectors where they are most needed, collaborating with stakeholders on the deployment and scale-up of zero-emission aviation using hydrogen and electric technologies.
