Ibero-American Congress to analyse the circular economy in the tourism sector

13-12-22

The Fachhochschule Dresden in Germany, in coordination with the State University of Milagro (Ecuador), are organising the "1st Ibero-American Congress" with the theme "The importance of the circular economy in the tourism sector".

The event will take place on 13, 14 and 15 December, with the participation of the Tourism and Society Think Tank, a group of professionals whose aim is to reflect, analyse and contribute to the development of the sector, as well as to anticipate trends in the sector and its relationship with society.

This congress aims to analyse, through keynote speeches and round tables made up of experts, how the circular economy is closely related to tourism, one of the fastest growing industries in recent decades, but also one of the most devastated by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The presentations will be held online and will be attended by major speakers, including Mrs. Mariana Oleskiv, from the State Agency for Tourism Development of Ukraine; Dr. Carlos Canales, president of the Federation of the Chamber of Tourism of Peru; Fernando Molina, Director of Research and Innovation at the SDTI-4H SMART DATA TOUR Institute; Antonio Santos, President of the Tourism and Society Think Tank; Holbach Muñetón, president of the National Federation of Chambers of Tourism of Ecuador and Chamber of Tourism of Guayas, among many other professionals, both from Ecuador and from other countries.

The application of the circular economy model in the different tourist activities that contribute to the objectives of sustainable development (SDG) and propose strategies that contribute to tourism competitiveness, especially in the communities of Ecuador, are also part of the objectives pursued by the first edition of this Ibero-American Congress, which also has the endorsement of public and private institutions.
