JOSÉ CARLOS DE SANTIAGO

President and founder of the Excelencias Group, dedicated to the communication of gastronomy and tourism in Latin America and the Caribbean. Editor-in-chief of the magazines Excelencias Turísticas, Excelencias Gourmet, Arte por Excelencias, and Excelencias del Motor; and founding partner of the Plus Ultra airline. Vice-president of the Ibero-American Academy of Gastronomy. 

Between 1983 and 1990, José Carlos Santiago founded and worked in various media. In 1987 he founded his own company; and since then he has been President of the companies comprising the Excelencias Group, whose areas of action are communication, printing, export and import, and travel agencies.

But the most important field of action in José Carlos Santiago Bartolomé's career is publishing. Also in 1987, under the umbrella of the Excelencias Group, he started the communication company Exclusivas Latinoamericanas ELA. Through it, and with correspondents or offices in Spain, Cuba, Mexico, Panama, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Colombia, Peru, Portugal, Argentina and Brazil. In all these countries, the objective of Excelencias is clear: to promote tourism, gastronomy, art and motoring. 

In 2011, his passion for gastronomy was reflected in his appointment as Ambassador of the Ibero-American Academy of Gastronomy, with the function of promoting the AIBG in the different countries of the region and promoting the different national Academies. He held this position until 2019, when he became Vice President of the institution. Proof of his good work in this field is that he was named Honorary President of the Dominican Academy of Gastronomy, and Executive President of the Caribbean Academy of Gastronomy. 

In addition, José Carlos Santiago is a Knight and Councillor of the Order of the Camino de Santiago, a member of the Club Abierto de Editores (CLABE), representative delegate of Termatalia in Cuba, and representative for America and the Caribbean of the Gasma university gastronomic training centre.
