Founded in 2003 by Prof. Santiago Cano to provide specialised professional advisory services in the fields of consultancy, training, organisation of events in active and religious tourism, for companies and institutions, originally in Argentina and Brazil, later extending its field of action to other countries in the region, such as Bolivia, Uruguay, Chile and Colombia.
In recent years, EMPRESUR has generated solid links with entities and companies in Central America (Honduras and Guatemala) and on the European continent, with Spain and Portugal.
From its beginnings to date, Emprendimientos Turísticos del Mercosur has collaborated directly and actively with business chambers, professional associations, NGOs, educational institutions, municipal, provincial and national governments in several countries.
For these purposes, it constitutes a multidisciplinary technical team generating and collaborating in the creation of thematic events, such as: Mercosur Educational Tourism Meeting (2003); Mercosur Active Tourism Exhibition - SaMTA (2003); International Congress of Religious and Sustainable Tourism (2006); 200 years after the landing of Liniers (2006); Delta Bonaerense Tourism Forum (2007); Argentine Meeting of Religious Tourism (2009); International Conference on Sanctuaries (2012); and the International Network of Agencies Specialised in Religious Tourism - REDITUR (2013) with the participation of business representatives from 22 countries in America, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
In terms of training, it manages awareness actions promoting two fundamental values for tourism development worldwide, the relationship "Man - Man" and "Man - Nature" as basic conditions in the necessary balance of all cultural, social and economic activity. With these objectives in mind, it organises courses, seminars and diploma courses, both face-to-face and on-line. In addition to contributing to the "aggiornamento" of study plans and creating new degree alternatives for tertiary level institutes and public and private universities.
In the field of "Information and Communications" it has edited El Informador Turístico Bonaerense for 5 years. And develops the website www.congresoturismoreligioso.com
EMPRESUR's interdisciplinary team, made up of specialists from the 5 (five) Mercosur countries, has been distinguished by the Inter-American Development Bank - IDB in the framework of the international competition Smart Challenge 2.021 for its technological innovation proposal "The Jesuits' Way in America".
Currently, Emprendimientos Turísticos del Mercosur, EMPRESUR, is directed by Gustavo Andrés Loza, a journalist specialising in tourism and university lecturer, who maintains the professional guidelines laid out 20 years ago by its founder, allowing the continuity of the project and its permanent enrichment based on the new challenges faced by the sector at a global level.
